TeleHealth Services

Effective March 16, 2020 - April 16, 2020

This is applicable for patients who wish to receive their care remotely and limit their exposure. It can also serve as an initial screening for patients who may need to be tested for the coronavirus. For guidance on coronavirus testing please refer to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Alabama Department of Public Health websites.

INSURANCE DETAILS

Plan’s that are currently allowing Telehealth visits includes but not limited to:

  • All Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama members including Blue Advantage®

  • Viva Medicare Plans (Viva commercial plans are not covered under our providers at this time for Telehealth visit).

  • We will file any of our regularly accepted commercial plans that are allowing telehealth visits at this time, but patients need to speak to their insurance to make sure their plan will cover it.

  • We are also allowing self-pay visits for our uninsured patients.

Member cost-sharing (copayments, deductibles, etc.) will apply according to the member’s contract benefits.

WHEN TO USE TELEHEALTH

Telehealth includes both phone call and video visits. Telehealth is appropriate for consultations and visits for either low complexity, routine or ongoing evaluation, and management. This would include acute illnesses (for example UTIs, routine colds, etc.) or chronic disease (stable hypertension. diabetes, hyperlipidemia, asthma, etc.) management that, based on the provider’s medical judgment, can be managed over the phone.

GENERAL PROCESS OF VISIT

  1. Request a visit with Front Office Staff, who will speak to a provider to confirm that we are able to meet your needs without being seen in person.

  2. We will then provide a 2-hour window of when to expect a phone or video call from the provider for the visit.  

  3. You will be initially assessed on the phone by Nurse to get Chief Complaint, history of present illness, height, weight, and reconcile medications. 

  4. Speak to the provider about your illness or issue.

  5. Payment collected through Phreesia paperwork update or payment information given over the phone.
